Lately I've been thinking a lot about what makes a good strong female character and I have come to the conclusion that the bar for a strong female is set a lot lower than the bar for a strong male. All of the traits that make a good female character are basic traits for a male character.
The ability to speak ones mind, whilst in a male would be totally overlooked, in a female it makes them a strong woman.
Strength and courage, in a male it is basically a requirement but in a female it makes them stand out.
Intelligence, also only a strong trait in a woman although arguably in a male it is sometimes portrayed as a little geeky and therefore not always cool.
What do you think? Am I onto something here?
