A Pomodoro is a technique that I have learned lately. it involves working for short bursts of time and then taking regular breaks in between. It has increased my productivity ten fold. Previously when writing, I would write a scene and then take a break. Using the Pomodoro technique I could easily end up writing two scenes, breaking and then writing another two scenes.
So what is it?
You basically write or do whatever it is that you want to concentrate on for 25 minutes and then at the end of that time, you break for 5 minutes. Each 30 minute block is known as one Pomodoro. After completing 4 Pomodori, you break for 25 minutes to be able to refresh and refocus on what it was that you were doing.
You can download Pomodoro timers from any app store on your smart phone or you could easily just use a stopwatch to manage your time. Whatever works best for you but I can assure you that I have seen increased productivity as a result of using this method.
